In Arc we have two levels of roles to give users permissions to the appropriate sections. These are Global Roles and Group-specific Roles.

Global Roles

Global roles can be used to give users access to all athletes in Arc. Each role provides a different level of access.

Assigning Global Roles to users

1. Expand the Admin section in the sidebar, and then click Users.

2. Find the user you would like to assign roles to in the table and click the three-dots icon. A menu will appear. Select "Manage Roles"

3. The top section shows global roles and the bottom shows group level roles. From here you can toggle on/off desired roles that will apply to ALL Groups in the system. For example if a user is given the "Team Manager" global role. They will have the team manager permissions for all athletes and groups in the system.

Toggling multiples roles is additive in permissions. For example, a person with the Performance Manager and Medical Manager roles will have the permissions of both.

Group-specific Roles

Group-specific Roles scope permissions to a particular group in Arc, limiting access to athletes in that group. Group roles are more commonly used if your team is divided into age groups or mens/womens groups. This ensures that coaches only have access to the athletes that they need to.

Assigning Group-specific Roles to users

1. This can be found via the same instructions as above, just scroll to the lower section once you get to a users role's settings page.

Once here click on the select group drop down to give that user the selected role in the specified group.

OR

Expand the Admin section in the sidebar, and then click Groups.

2. Find the group you would like to give a user access to, and click "Update"

3. Find the user you would like to assign roles to in the table and click the three-dots icon. A menu will appear. Select "Manage Roles"

4. In the window that appears, you can toggle the roles you wish to assign. Each role provides a description of the additional permissions that will be applied. Changes are not saved until you click the Save button on the Group Edit page.

If, for example, you turn on the role of "Group performance manager", that user will be assigned the performance manager to athletes within this group only.

The first method is better for manipulating the roles of one user.
The second method is better for manipulating the roles of multiple users in the same group.
