Overview

TV Cast Mode gives coaches and S&C staff a TV-friendly view of a planned strength session. It uses a high-contrast layout and large text so athletes and coaches can view the session from across the room without needing to crowd around a laptop or printed sheet.

Step 1: Prepare the Session in Programmer

Before using TV Mode, make sure the session is already planned and published in Programs.

Check that:

  • Sets, reps, and targets have been added.

  • Session titles and block titles are clear.

  • Block colours and letters are set.

  • Session notes and exercise notes have been added, if needed.

Session and exercise notes can be shown in TV Mode, so include any instructions you want athletes or coaches to view during the session.

Step 2: Select a Session in TV Mode

TV Cast Mode is accessed from the Strength tab in Lumin.

How to open a session in TV Mode:

  1. Go to the Strength tab.

  2. Select the TV Mode tab.

  3. Filter the session list by Today, This week, or Any.

  4. Filter by Program to narrow the list.

  5. Select the session you want to display.

The selected session will open in the web tab in a TV-friendly layout.

Note: You can only open one session in a single web tab at a time. If you need to display multiple sessions at once, open each session in a separate browser tab and cast or display each tab as needed.

Step 3: Adjust the Display Settings

The top section of TV Mode gives a quick overview of the selected session, including the program name, the week of the program, and the estimated session time.

You can also adjust the cast view to suit your weight room setup.

Available settings include:

  • Font size

  • Session notes visibility

  • Exercise notes visibility

To display a different session, select Change session and choose another session from the list.

Step 4: Use TV Cast Mode During the Session

Once TV Cast Mode is running, coaches and athletes can use the screen as the shared session reference.

This helps:

  • Keep the full session plan visible during training

  • Reduce reliance on printed PDFs or whiteboards

  • Let athletes check the session without interrupting coaches

  • Keep the weight room organised around one clear session display

Real-Life Use Case Example

Scenario: Running a Team Strength Session

A strength coach is running a team session in the weight room.

Instead of printing the session or writing it on a whiteboard, they:

  1. Open the planned session in Lumin.

  2. Start TV Cast Mode.

  3. Cast the session to the wall-mounted TV.

  4. Adjust the font size so athletes can read it from across the room.

  5. Hide or show notes depending on what the group needs.

Athletes can now follow the session plan from the TV while the coach focuses on coaching and movement quality.

Why TV Cast Mode Is Impactful

TV Cast Mode helps coaches and S&C staff:

  • Set up faster in the weight room

  • Replace printed sheets and whiteboards

  • Give athletes a clear in-session reference

  • Keep the planned session visible across the room

  • Save display preferences for future sessions

This makes it ideal for team lifts, group-based strength sessions, and busy weight room environments.
